Snow Queen
Submitted by Krystalheart on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 16:18I really liked Snow Queen. It was a dark, sorrowful, yet an optimistic tale about two people whose lives were forever changed due to a tragic event. The drama made me feel how icy cold our hearts can get when we lock all of our fears and emotions inside, and force only the cold exterior onto others, in defense that no one could ever hurt us.
Han Tae Woong is a man who is tortured by his past. When he was young, he was an aspiring student and genius. In high school, he competes with his best friend for an academic scholar and wins. Embarassed and shamed, his best friend commits suicide. Tae Woong could not deal with the pressure and the guilt, so he runs away and throws away his future of becoming someone great.
Kim Bora is a young woman who is also tortured by her past and her illness. She comes from a wealthy family, so money is sweet like candy. She gets everything she wants, with the exception of love and warmth from her father. She has no mother and had no one to teach her about tender love.
A story of love, misunderstanding, and compassion. There are some really awesome passages in this drama that I truly love. I'll have to dig in and write them down next time.

Sweet 18
Submitted by Krystalheart on Sun, 11/01/2009 - 23:54Sweet 18 is a cute comedy drama. It's a story about two individuals who had an arranged marriage. Jung-Sook (Han Ji Hye) is a bubbly teenager who believes in true love and thinks that her goal in life is to become a wife. Hyuk-Joon (Lee Dong Gun) is much older than his wife and marries because he is told to. They are truly an odd couple at first, but with time their relationship starts to blossom. As with every marriage, there are trials and challenges.
Damo
Submitted by Krystalheart on Sun, 11/01/2009 - 23:39Damo is an awesome and beautiful drama. It takes place during the Chosun dynasty. Damo means "low ranked female detective." Chaeok is a damo, who is loved by her superior named Commando Hwangbo. This drama has a lot of fighting and conspiracy, not to mention political affiliations with the government and underground crimes.
What makes this drama so elegantly beautiful is the soundtrack, scenery, and plot. As with most korean dramas, there is a love triangle. However, this love triangle is one with an added twist. One is attainable, the other is forbidden!
The two leading men here are Commando Hwangbo and the rebel bandit leader Sung-baek. Chaeok doesn't know it but Sung-baek is her long lost brother.
This drama has 14 episodes, but it's a fast paced drama and is very interesting because of all the political dynamics involved. Yesasia did a superb job at translating the dialog into english.
I own the DVD boxset and I must say, it's one that I truly treasure and watch over and over again. It's very fast paced and is an epic drama. It truly has a strong romantic appeal.
Don't miss this drama, Damo.
