I got interested in korean dramas while stationed in Hawaii in 2001. I remember it was the drama On the Prairie with Chae Rim (who I didn't know at the time). It was so sad and it had me crying, so I would check back periodically on KBFD to see bits and pieces. The addiction came when Stairway to Heaven came on the scene. Song-joo's dedication and love for Jung-suh was so fascinating to me and the way he cried it broke my heart and amazed me all at the same time (never really seen a man cry). I was devastated at how it ended, but so refreshed all at the same time. After STH, came Hearts in Bali, Girl Who wants to Marry (Myung Se Bin, really funny), Who's My Love (Lee Te-Ran). Between STH and HIB I was so downtrodden with all the tragedy and took a break, but when it was time to leave the island I purchased All About Eve. I watched that drama so many times it is ridiculous! I have been watching and collecting (over 40 dramas owned)ever since from YesAsia and KBFD.
Thanks for your comment! Hawaii residents are lucky they have KBFD. I live in Wisconsin, so we don't have a variety of asian channels. I do get KBS America on Dish Network but it usually has talk shows and not so many dramas.
Like you, I am also a korean drama collector. I buy most of my DVDs from Yesasia and KBS America. I also trade with other drama collectors.
Yeah, that's the thing I miss most about living in HI. It was heavenly. I was watching 2-3 dramas at the same time (because they only played on certain days for each one). I am in IL, they say there's channel 41 but I can't get it. I used to watch the AZN channel, but they took it off air. I also purchase from KBS at times, but more so from the two mentioned.
Thank you and I'm happy to be here!
I'm glad you're here! I love meeting new people and making new friends. :-) I think we've been Facebook friends for a while now, but haven't really gotten the opportunity to TALK DRAMAS!
Hehehe, as always this board is open to anything anyone wants to talk about.
definately because of family ;P

Stairway to Heaven is one my favorites.
Glad to have you on the forum!
